Client: Anonynous
Role: Graphic Designer
Tools Used: Adobe InDesign, AI Writing Assistant
Timeline: 3–4 Business Days
Deliverables: 30-page PDF Playbook (Horizontal Format)
🧩 The Challenge
The client provided a basic text document with the request to “do my thing.” That meant transforming raw copy into a fully designed, branded, user-friendly resource—quickly.
The playbook was aimed at internal and external audiences working in logistics and operations. With only a few business days to deliver, no budget for custom photography, and a hefty 30 pages of formal, dense copy, I had to make a series of design and editorial decisions that would maximize impact while respecting the brand.
🧠 My Approach
1. Leveraging Brand Insight
Having worked with the client for over a year, I knew their visual identity and key brand personas well. This helped me intuitively align tone, layout, and imagery with the audience expectations—without endless back-and-forth.
2. Horizontal Layout for Screen-Based Reading
Instead of the traditional vertical format, I chose a horizontal layout, optimized for desktop viewing. Why? Analytics and client feedback had shown their users typically consume long documents at their desks, not on mobile or in print.
3. Reworking the Copy for Clarity & Tone
The original copy was formal and text-heavy—written more for legal review than human beings. I took the initiative to lightly edit the content using AI-assisted tools, bringing the tone down to an 8th-grade reading level. The result? Friendlier, more accessible communication that matched how their team and customers speak.
4. Stock Image Strategy
With no budget or time for a warehouse photoshoot, I sourced professional stock images that reflected the client’s operations and values—visually grounding the content while maintaining brand consistency.
🔄 Revision & Launch
The final design only required one round of revision before it was approved and launched—testament to the clarity of the process and alignment with the client’s goals.

📉 Post-Launch Insight: 30 Pages is a Lot
After the launch, I monitored document engagement and noticed that readership drop-off occurred around the midway point. I pitched an audio version of the playbook to the client, imagining a version that could be consumed during a commute or workout.
While the client ultimately chose not to move forward with production, I believe audio-optional content is a powerful accessibility and engagement tool, especially for long-form documents. It’s an idea I continue to champion.
